The Ivens Machado exhibition is the first institutional show dedicated to the artist in the country. Curated by Jean-Marc Prévost, the exhibition presents a panorama of Machado’s work, highlighting his performances from the 1970s and sculptures using raw materials such as cement, iron and wood. The show emphasizes the relationship between the body, sensuality and political criticism, highlighting how the artist subverted conventional sculpture to address themes such as violence, repression and sexuality.
