Festival Brazil meets the University

From February to September 2025, the Maison du Brésil (CIUP) is promoting a series of academic and cultural events as part of the Brazil at Home initiative, in partnership with CAPES and the Brazilian Embassy in France. The program reinforces themes such as ecological transition, diversity, dialogue with Africa, democracy and fair globalization.

February 26-28: Major Research Seminar – debates and panel on Brazil-France cooperation.

February 03: Carnival at the Maison – party with live music and DJs.

May 24-26: Festa da Cité – Centenary – gastronomy and Brazilian music.

June 24: Música na Ruelinha – anniversary of the Maison with samba at “Beco da Saudade”

Exhibitions and Concerts

February – The Matter and the Winged Dreams: Artist and PhD candidate Mariana Laterza (UFMG) presents a series of works exploring imagination, the freedom to dream, and winged messages. The exhibition is complemented by a talk during the Research Seminar, offering a conceptual reflection on imagination and freedom.

February – Valentina and Vladimir Safatle: A jazz concert for voice and piano.

April – Annual Festival of the Clube do Choro de Paris: In partnership with choro clubs from various Brazilian cities, this weekend-long festival features concerts and music workshops at the Maison du Brésil.

May – World Map of the Cité: Artist, professor, and former resident Karina Dias presents a reimagined cartography of the CIUP’s interrelational spaces, accompanied by a video installation depicting the evolving dynamics between countries.

June – Lucio Costa and the Invention of the Maison du Brésil: In celebration of the Maison’s anniversary and the CIUP Centennial, this exhibition showcases drawings and documents from the Casa da Arquitetura in Porto, retracing the origins of the Maison and Lucio Costa’s collaboration with Le Corbusier.

July – Lelé, Rediscovering the Third Architect of Brasília: Curated by Gilberto Lacerda, this exhibition explores the work of Lelé Filgueiras, a key figure in Brazilian modern architecture alongside Oscar Niemeyer and Lucio Costa.
