About the artist

Adriana Amaral was born in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, in 1978, and lives and works between Belo Horizonte and São Paulo. A Brazilian visual artist, her practice encompasses painting, drawing, installation, and textile-based works, exploring themes such as memory, domestic space, intimacy, and emotional perception. Through the use of fabrics, embroidery, handmade paper, and other delicate materials, Amaral develops compositions that move between abstraction and figuration, evoking absence, silence, sensory experience, and contemplative atmospheres. Her production is marked by subtle material experimentation, in which manual gestures, layers, textures, and fragments construct relationships between body, time, and remembrance. She has participated in exhibitions and projects dedicated to Brazilian contemporary art, with works that engage with affective and spatial questions.
