Mai-Britt Wolthers was born in Ringsted, Denmark, in 1962, and lives and works between Santos, São Paulo, and Denmark. A Danish-Brazilian visual artist based in Brazil since 1986, she employs a practice that spans painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, video, and installation, exploring the relationships between color, form, space, memory, nature, and perception. Her work bridges abstraction and figuration through chromatic compositions, organic structures, and sensory atmospheres—all shaped by her engagement with the Brazilian landscape, including the Atlantic Forest, the Amazon, and the Pantanal. Drawing on intuitive processes and a diverse range of materials, she creates works that oscillate between formal balance, visual fragmentation, and poetic imagination. She has participated in exhibitions such as *Hiléia* at the Centro Cultural Correios in Rio de Janeiro; *Equações* at the Centro Cultural São Paulo; *Mai-Britt Wolthers e a Cor Protagonista* at the Pinacoteca Benedicto Calixto in Santos; as well as the 10th National Biennial of Santos, the 11th Biennial of the Recôncavo, exhibitions at the Lamb Arts Gallery in London, and the Charlottenborg Spring Exhibition at the Charlottenborg Kunsthal in Copenhagen. Her work is held in various institutional collections, including the Rio Art Museum (MAR), the Centro Cultural São Paulo (CCSP), the Centro Cultural Correios, SENAC, and the municipal collection of Gribskov, Denmark.
