In 2003, Bruno Novelli began his art studies at the University of São Paulo (USP), where he immersed himself in the universe of contemporary art. In the 2000s, he stood out in the São Paulo art scene with his unique style, which mixes elements of pop culture, digital art and references to Brazilian Amazon and indigenous mythology as he is a long-standing friend of the Huni Kuin indigenous artists, he draws his inspiration mainly from the exuberance of the Amazonian universe. In 2006, Novelli had his first solo exhibition at Galeria Choque Cultural in São Paulo, an important contemporary art space in Brazil. During this period, his works began to gain international recognition, with participation in art fairs such as Art Basel Miami Beach in 2007.
In 2008, he participated in the collective exhibition “De Dentro para Fora / De Fora para Dentro” at the São Paulo Museum of Art (MASP). In 2010, he held a solo exhibition at Kinfolk Gallery in New York, consolidating his presence in the North American art scene and expanding his activities globally. In the 2010s, Novelli continued to exhibit his works in important galleries and museums.
In 2012, he participated in the Cuenca Biennial in Ecuador and, in 2014, he had a solo exhibition at Galeria Celma Albuquerque in Belo Horizonte. In 2015, his works were exhibited at the Art Rio fair, standing out as one of the main voices of the new generation of Brazilian artists.
In 2017, Novelli held an artistic residency at the Swatch Art Peace Hotel in Shanghai, where he developed a series of works influenced by Chinese culture and digital art. In 2018, he presented a solo exhibition at the Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil (CCBB) in Brasília, exploring themes such as nature, technology, and spirituality. Bruno Novelli has stood out for his ability to integrate diverse cultural and technological influences into his works.
Producing for nearly two decades, Bruno Novelli has exhibited at various national and international institutions, including: Siamo Foresta (Collective, Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain at Triennale Milano, Milan, Italy, 2023); Les Vivants (Living Worlds) (Collective, Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain at Lille3000, Lille, France, 2022); Tesouro das feras (Individual, Museu de Arte Contemporânea do Rio Grande do Sul – MACRS, Porto Alegre, Brazil, 2021); 1981/2021: Brazilian contemporary art in the collection of Andrea and José Olympio Pereira (Collective, CCBB Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, 2021).
