Boa Sofa (2002)
Velvet-covered polyurethane foam and goose feathers
Dimensions: 65 × 355 × 190 cm
Country of origin: Brazil
The Boa Sofa, designed in 2002 by Brazilian designers Fernando and Humberto Campana for the Italian manufacturer Edra, is a striking example of contemporary design that blurs the line between furniture and sculpture. Comprising approximately 120 meters of velvet-covered tubular forms filled with flexible polyurethane foam and goose feathers, the sofa lacks a traditional frame, instead relying on its intricate knotting for structure. This design results in a large, soft, woven nest that invites users to sit, lie down, or curl up in various positions, offering both comfort and a unique aesthetic experience
