Initially part of the Arte Povera movement, he later embraced conceptual art, exploring intricate themes like language, geopolitics, and time. Throughout his career, Boetti exhibited a deep interest in the concept of duality. He often explored the interplay between order and chaos, individuality and collaboration, and even his own identity as an artist. His use of twin names, “Alighiero e Boetti,” underscored his belief that his artistic self was both singular and plural, a reflection of the multiplicity of perspectives and experiences that shape human existence. Boetti’s creative journey also led him to explore language as a medium. His “Arazzi” series, comprising woven text pieces, showcased his fascination with wordplay, communication, and the limitations of translation. These works challenged viewers to consider the nuances and idiosyncrasies of language, often leading to new layers of interpretation.
