Fran Chang (b. 1990) is a Taiwanese-Brazilian contemporary artist renowned for her ethereal landscape paintings that explore themes of solitude, diaspora, and the sublime. Utilizing silk—a material deeply connected to her Taiwanese heritage—as her canvas, Chang creates delicate, atmospheric scenes dominated by elements like mist, ice, and celestial phenomena. Her works often depict uninhabited, dreamlike terrains that evoke a sense of introspection and emotional depth. In 2024, she held a solo exhibition titled "Zenith" at Galeria Millan in São Paulo, showcasing paintings inspired by her observations of natural phenomena such as the aurora borealis during a trip to Norway. Chang's art has been recognized internationally, with pieces included in the collections of the Saint Louis Art Museum in the United States and the Museu de Arte do Rio in Brazil. Her unique fusion of personal narrative, cultural identity, and contemplative imagery positions her as a significant voice in contemporary Brazilian art.
