Guerreiro do Divino Amor was born in Geneva, Switzerland, in 1983, and lives and works in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. A Swiss-Brazilian artist with a master’s degree in architecture, his practice spans video, installation, film, publishing, performance, and narrative construction, exploring territory, collective imagination, religion, politics, media, architecture, and national identity. His research centers on Superfictions—symbolic and ideological forces that shape spaces, social desires, and images of power. Combining science fiction, documentary, satire, television, advertising, and religious iconography, his work examines populism, consumption, faith, digital culture, and contemporary political mythologies.
He has participated in major exhibitions including the Swiss Pavilion at the 60th Venice Biennale, the São Paulo Biennial, the Biennale de l’Image en Mouvement in Geneva, and Frestas — Trienal de Artes, as well as projects at the Centre d’Art Contemporain Genève, Paço das Artes, Museu de Arte do Rio (MAR), Fundação Iberê Camargo, Instituto Moreira Salles, Museu de Arte da Pampulha, and Casa França-Brasil. Winner of the 2019 PIPA Prize, his work is also held in the Instituto PIPA collection.
