Ilê Sartuzi was born in Santos, São Paulo, Brazil, in 1995, and lives and works between London and São Paulo. A graduate of USP with a Master’s degree from Goldsmiths, University of London, his multidisciplinary practice spans sculpture, installation, video, projection mapping, theater, performance, kinetic objects, and technological devices. His work explores fragmented and idealized representations of the body and the absence of the human figure in proto-architectural, digital, and institutional spaces, using theatricality, illusionism, object manipulation, and institutional critique to examine presence, representation, and the power structures shaping museums, collections, and historical narratives.
His exhibitions and projects include Truque at MAC USP, A Crime, a Confession and a Trade at Nicoletti Contemporary in London, IMS Convida at Instituto Moreira Salles, and presentations at Sesc, CCSP, MARP, and MAC USP. He received the PIPA Prize in 2021 and a prize at the Bienal de Artes Mediales in Chile in 2022. His works are held in collections including Pinacoteca de São Paulo, Instituto PIPA, Videobrasil, and the Moraes-Barbosa Collection.
