Julia Gallo was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1997, and lives and works in São Paulo. A Brazilian visual artist, she places drawing at the center of her practice, extending it into charcoal on canvas, paper cutouts, objects, reliefs, and spatial experiments that explore the body, gesture, matter, and transformation. Her works construct fictional anatomies, hybrid forms, and surfaces marked by shadow, graphic density, and a tension between fragility and strength, exploring the boundaries between body and image, presence and dissolution, figuration and abstraction.
A graduate in Visual Arts from FAAP, she has participated in painting mentorship and research programs and has presented exhibitions in Brazil and abroad, including Primeira Febre at Yehudi Hollander-Pappi in São Paulo; VRUMMM, with Marina Woisky, at Galeria Millan; Faina at the Museu de Artes e Ofícios in Belo Horizonte; and Aguardente, a solo project at Paço das Artes. She has also participated in the Anual de Arte FAAP at the Museu de Arte Brasileira da FAAP and undertaken a residency at Zaratan in Lisbon. To date, no reliable public sources have been found confirming the presence of Julia Gallo’s works in permanent museum collections.
