Lidia Lisbôa was born in Terra Roxa, Paraná, Brazil, in 1970, and lives and works in São Paulo. A Brazilian visual artist, she employs a practice that spans sculpture, crochet, drawing, performance, ceramics, textiles, and installation, weaving together themes of autobiography, the body, landscape, memory, and gestures inscribed into matter. Through processes such as sewing, braiding, tying, modeling, and accumulation, she transforms threads, fabrics, clay, beads, and organic materials into symbolic forms that evoke breasts, umbilical cords, termite mounds, nests, cocoons, skin, and protective structures. Her work explores care, vulnerability, ancestry, the female experience, and collective memory, creating environments rich in sensory and affective density. She has participated in significant exhibitions and institutional projects, including the 36th São Paulo Biennial; the solo exhibition *Têta* at the Museu de Arte do Rio (MAR) in 2024; *O Teatro* at Galeria Millan; as well as shows at the Museu Afro Brasil, Instituto Tomie Ohtake, MAM São Paulo, the Museo Madre in Naples, and the Palais des Nations in Geneva. Her work is held in the collection of the Museu de Arte Contemporânea do Rio Grande do Sul (MAC RS); to date, no reliable public sources have been identified confirming the presence of her work in other permanent museum collections.
