About the artist

Loris Cecchini was born in Milan, Italy, in 1969, and lives and works between Milan and Berlin. An Italian visual artist, he employs a multidisciplinary practice that spans sculpture, installation, drawing, photography, and architectural interventions, exploring organic growth, spatial transformation, modularity, and the relationships between natural and artificial systems. By combining industrial manufacturing techniques, biomorphic structures, and principles drawn from architecture, design, and engineering, Cecchini creates works in which surfaces, walls, and environments appear to undergo processes of mutation, expansion, or proliferation. Known for his modular installations and wall-mounted metallic structures—resembling cellular formations, molecular networks, or fluid geometries—the artist challenges perceptions of stability, material permanence, and spatial boundaries, producing immersive fields that exist at the intersection of sculpture, architecture, and landscape. He has participated in major international exhibitions, including the 49th, 51st, and 56th Venice Biennale; the 6th and 9th Shanghai Biennale; the Taipei Biennial; the Valencia Biennial; the Chengdu Biennale; and exhibitions at institutions such as MoMA PS1 in New York; Palais de Tokyo in Paris; the Musée d’Art Moderne de Saint-Étienne Métropole; the Centro Galego de Arte Contemporánea in Santiago de Compostela; Kunstverein Heidelberg; the Centro per l’Arte Contemporanea Luigi Pecci in Prato; and Ca’ Rezzonico in Venice. His work is held in significant institutional collections, including the Centre Pompidou in Paris; the Mori Art Museum in Tokyo; M+ in Hong Kong; the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Denmark; the Astrup Fearnley Museum in Oslo; the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne; and various French public collections associated with the FRAC (Fonds Régionaux d’Art Contemporain).
