Shara Hughes graduated with a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design and later pursued studies at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. Her impressionistic, multi-textured canvases are created by combining oil, enamel, acrylic, and spray paint. Known for her colorful landscapes, the artist creates a harmonious blend of the real, the imagined, the beautiful, and the chaotic. She works intuitively and does not typically pre-plan her canvases. She exhibited at museums such as the Dallas Museum of Art, the Newport Art Museum, and the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia. She took part in the Whitney Biennial in 2017.
