Antonio Obá graduated in Visual Arts from the Faculdade de Artes Dulcina de Moraes in Brazil in 2010. Since 2012, he has been dedicated to teaching Visual Arts for the Secretary of Education of the Federal District.

Obá’s artistic creations delve into the intricate connection between Brazilian identity and the Black body. His works serve as a retrieval of cultural and religious symbols, symbolizing narratives that have been deliberately omitted from the national identity and political memory of the country.

Obá’s paintings insert Black figures into traditional Brazilian scenes rich with historical motifs, as if to remind viewers that they have always been there.

Antonio Obá’s works have been shown widely in Brazil and North America.
