Erika Verzutti studied graphic design in Sao Paulo before coming to London. Radical Brazilian artists like Leda Catunda and Jac Leirner sparked her interest in art during this time. Verzutti’s passion for art history is evident in her work, referencing artists like Picasso and Tarsila do Amaral, as well as Maria Martins and Henry Moore. Erika Verzutti has spent the last two decades cultivating a visual language in which painting and sculpture are united. The objects she creates are playful and humorous, coming in various shapes and sizes. They are made from materials such as bronze, concrete, clay, and papier-mâché. Verzutti uses various materials like watercolour, oil, pigmented wax, and acrylic in her artwork.
