As a major global art event, Art Basel Hong Kong demonstrates Asia’s growing significance in the international art market. Returning to its pre-pandemic format in 2024, the event saw a 37% jump in exhibitors, 242 galleries from 40 countries, showcasing the region’s diverse art scene.

The rising interest of mainland Chinese collectors is expanding the Asian market. The 2024 Art Basel and UBS Global Collecting Survey shows that Chinese collectors were the top art and antiques investors, outspending all other regions by more than double.

Reflecting this movement, the 2025 fair will feature 240 galleries across 42 countries, demonstrating its continued dedication to global diversity and Asia-Pacific art. With the participation of 23 first-time galleries, the next edition will feature solo exhibitions by emerging and established artists. Despite the increase in the number of exhibitors this year, the Chinese art market faced challenges in 2024.
