In 1981 she graduated in Social Communication and from 1980 to 1982 she studied painting at the Parque Lage School of Visual Arts in Rio de Janeiro. In 1985 she had her first solo show at the César Aché Gallery in Rio de Janeiro. Since then, she has exhibited in Rio, São Paulo, Recife, Caracas (Venezuela) and New York (USA) several times. She took part in the Salão Nacional de Artes Plásticas several times, winning prizes in 1984 and 1988. Also in 1984, she participated in the exhibition Como Vai Você, Geração 80? at the Parque Lage School of Visual Arts. She received a special mention from the jury at the 2nd Cuenca International Biennial (Ecuador, 1989) and in 1990 she won the Brasília Plastic Arts Award. She was a guest artist at the 1998 São Paulo Biennial. She has taken part in various group exhibitions in Brazil and abroad, including the Madrid International Contemporary Art Fair – Arco (Spain, 2000). In 2002, the Banco do Brasil Cultural Centre in Rio de Janeiro held a major exhibition of her work: Mares do Sul.
